I first met Jackie at a costume party in Haines, Alaska.  She was wearing a belly dancing garment owned by her mother, a retired professional dancer.  I knew I wanted to paint her in this costume, and she obliged me, modeling as I did sketches and a painting from life.  Near the end of our sessions, I photographed her in the light at my studio door.  I especially loved the depth and color of her eyes in the sunshine, and the playful dots of  reflected light on the wall.
