“Byzantine Ruins, Nesebar, Bulgaria” pastel 9 1/4″ x 12 1/4″ 2012 $750

This pastel was started on location in Nesebar, an ancient Bulgarian city on the Black Sea, second only to Constantinople in it’s era.  I bought a drink at an outdoor cafe and set up to paint.  I had to quit earlier than expected when a thunderstorm moved in quickly.
