On a walk to the beach late one day this fall, I was taken with the arrangement of these boats.  I went home, got my sketchbook and camera, and came again the next evening to do another compositional sketch.  The old pilings represent the history of this location, and the boats, in their present arrangement, didn’t stay that way but a few days.  This painting was purchased by the Sheldon Museum with an acquisition grant from the Rasmuson Foundation.
